THE POOREST PRESIDENT IN THE WORLD continued

In line with the country's constitution, Uruguay's president Jose “Pepe” Mujica is stepping down after 5 years in office. Described as "the world's poorest president" Mujica chose to live in a modest farm house rather than the presidential palace, gave 90% of his salary to charity, saying he simply didn't need all that money, and drove himself around in a 1987 beetle. He did much to reduce poverty, debt and income inequality in Uruguay, and legalised abortion, same-sex marriage and marijuana. Leaving office he acknowledged the difficulties he faced trying to make positive reforms and said "there's still so much to do" hoping that the next government would be “better than mine and will have greater success." There are so many great quotes from this unique politician we couldn't pick just one, so here are a few and you can read more here: http://www.filmsforaction.org/…/15-powerful-quotes-from-th…/
